Sisterhood

The women of the Sisterhood of B’nai Israel enhance the religious and social activities of temple members and participate in helpful projects for the community.  Sisterhood accomplishes this by organizing religious dinners, onegs, sisterhood luncheons, special services, fundraisers and congregational meetings and outings.  Fundraisers have helped support building repairs, worthy causes, children’s programs and temple events. Sunday school classes have been taught by our children’s parents, who are Sisterhood members and the rabbi. Sisterhoods fun and successful annual auction at the Chanukah dinner also assists in raising funds. Every two years a new slate of officers is elected.  Sisterhood members form lasting friendships. Please consider joining.

Welcome Back Potluck Luncheon, Mini Bazaar and Canned Food Drive
You are cordially invited to Congregation B’nai Israel’s
Sunday August 28, 2016 at 1:00 pm to be held at the Temple
Once again, the Sisterhood is pleased to host the annual Welcome Back Potluck Luncheon. Welcome to Fall! We hope to see Temple members, Hillel students, members of our community and anyone on our email list. Please bring a friend and make a dish for them also or have them pick up a small item. All of those who attend please bring a main dish, salad, fruit salad, breads, beverages, desserts, wine, etc. Maybe you haven’t been able to be at Temple for a while but would like to see old friends or meet some of our newcomers. It’s a time to gather in good company and spirit with great food prepared (or purchased) by all of you! Seth will be with us to say the blessings over wine and food before our meal and say a few words of welcome. This year we have added two new components to our Welcome Back Event. The Sisterhood wanted to take on a community service activity that we all could participate in.

We will start a canned food drive to start on August 28th, so bring some canned goods for us to kick off the canned food drive. We will continue the drive through mid-December, when we will select a human service organization in Columbus to give all the cans before Christmas so they can be given to families and children who can really benefit from the products.

The second event is a Mini Bazaar where Sisterhood Members and any of you will bring items to sell such as Carolyn’s Jewish jewelry, Jessie’s cosmetic and beauty products and Emilie’s cheese straws. Let’s make this the best Potluck Ever!
